About The Social Brief

Simple illustration showing contrasting weather scenes: on the left, a sunny, warm day with two people and a leafless tree; on the right, a rainy, cool day with two people and lush trees.

The Social Brief is a research and writing platform dedicated to exploring the issues that shape our communities, our cities, and our lives. From the housing crisis to migration, gentrification to climate justice, we believe that writing has the power to inform, challenge, and inspire change.

The Social Brief exists to make social issues accessible to everyone, not just those inside the policy bubble.

Our job is to take complex, important topics and write about them in a way that is honest, accessible and genuinely interesting, without the jargon, without the spin and without the academic gatekeeping.

The Social Brief is written by someone with a background in human geography and consulting, who got tired of seeing important issues either ignored or made needlessly complicated. We think good writing can change the way people see the world, and that is what we are here to do.

Whether you are a student, a curious reader, a professional or someone who just wants to understand what is actually going on, The Social Brief is for you.
